February News

Parents,
It was wonderful to see so many of you last week at Student-led conferences. I hope you enjoyed hearing about all your third grader has been learning and doing this year!

Slim Goodbody Field Trip (2/19/15)
Bodyology is a 1 hour theatrical show that explores the inner workings of the human body along with the health practices required to care for it. The National Bodyology Tour is an exciting new Musical Show starring PBS's Slim Goodbody.
The show is:

What are the program objectives?

The main objectives of "Bodyology" include:
  • Teaching students how their amazing body works
  • Encouraging students to make better health choices
  • To help students attain competencies related to national education standards

Sights and Sounds On-campus Field Trip
We will we on-campus most of the day, with a short walking trip across the street to visit NW Eye Care Professionals. Students will be rotating through several stations, exploring the eye, light and optics, the ear, hearing, and sound. Students will need to bring a sack lunch, as the lunchroom is not open on Fridays. Regular school hours and uniform .


Family Reading Night/ Dr. Seuss' Birthday

6:30 – 8:00
You are invited to join the CHPCS community for a free night of literacy fun! Each classroom teacher will be reading a fabulous book and leading a fun project for families to enjoy. Sign ups will go out soon via email and teacher blog.  Based on feedback from last year, we will be trying an electronic sign up option. Families will be able to fill out the form online or in hard copy. Sessions will be filled on a first come, first served basis, so sign up early. Once your form is turned in, either electronically or hard copy, you will receive an email confirming your selections or letting you know the session was full.

This night is NOT just for primary students and middle school students are encouraged to attend. Also new this year, we will be holding a teacher vs student Battle of the Books battle at 7:30. 3rd– 8th grade students may sign up by the gym to be on the student team.
