Ecology Week!

Parents,
This is a big week, with a lot going on in third grade! Please read ahead for all the details you need to keep yourself (and me;) sane!
Endangered Animal Projects
Research was due today. In class we worked off of our research sheets to create the KWO for our writing. Students who did not have their own research in class created a KWO with my research on chimpanzees. They will need to complete their research and do their KWO tonight at home, in order to be caught up and able to continue writing with us tomorrow.
We will be creating the rest of the project in class this week.

Animal Classification and Ecology Quick Checks
Both quick checks came home today, so that your child can celebrate what they've mastered and review what isn't quite there yet. Our assessment for this unit will be next Monday, April 27th.
The answer keys for the quick checks:

Thursday, 4-23 Field Trip to Scrap
We will be leaving about 8:20 to go to Scrap. We will be back around noon and will eat lunch at school. Volunteers, please be here by 8:15. At this time I have 6 parents signed up. Thank you!

Friday, 4-24 On campus day
We will be on campus working on the "part 2" of our Endangered Animals project. We will begin our morning working on an earthworks art project with Mrs. Haight. We will also be hosting a Spring Museum in the lunchroom from 2:30-3:30. All are welcome to view our collection of projects!

Next Week
We will be doing our Smarter Balanced testing on Tuesday and Wednesday (4/28-29). It is very important that all students are here both days. Each morning we will begin with a classroom activity that will be crucial for helping them to complete the performance task portion of the test. For more info on the SB tests and helping your child prepare, please see last week's blog post.

That's all, folks! Please write Food Chain in your child's planner and they will receive a Dojo point for teamwork!

Mrs. Gausman
