I suspect you all had verrrrry tired children last night after our 5T Hike around Portland! Here is a brief summary of our adventure, followed by a photo gallery of the 2nd half of the day (it was too rainy during the hike to pull out my camera! If any parent chaperons have hike pictures, please share with me:)
We started off the morning with a VERY WET 4 mile hike from the zoo to Council Crest (the highest point in Portland) to enjoy snack. Unfortunately, the weather didn't allow much visibility for viewing, but it was still a nice, wet, break. From there we hiked down hill to a shelter to eat lunch, then back uphill to OHSU. Here we were able to use restrooms before catching the Tram down to the riverfront. This was, for many children, the favorite part of the day.
From there we were supposed to take the Trolley to Pioneer Square- but of course the trolley stop was closed so we had to improvise! We boarded a TriMet (bus) to take us most of the way, then transferred to the streetcar for the last few blocks. Downtown we listened to a Kim Knox to talk to us about public transportation options in Portland. From there we hopped on the Max Train back to the zoo!
Even through the rain and cold, the hike was along a beautiful trail; we enjoyed the company of our 6th grade buddies, and the many forms of transportation were very exciting, too! A big thanks to Mr. Weaver and Miss King for planning our day!
Alice in Wonderland Character Model: Reminder, these are due on Monday, October 15th. Students can use ANY reused/recycled items found around the house. There are no size or materials limitations. This is meant to be a FUN project- no cost, no stress! The written paragraph with IEW outline and checklist attached are also due.
