Next Friday, February 21st, will be our Winter Student-led Conferences here at CHPCS. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect when you come with your 3rd grade student:
When: Student-led conferences are done on by "dropping-in" rather than pre-scheduling a time. Doors will be open from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00. You should expect to spend about a half an hour in the classroom, but you can choose any time within those windows to arrive.
Who: Parents and students!
Why: This is an opportunity for your student to show you what they've been doing in class.
How: Each student will have a Passport with items to check off as they are shown. Specialists will also be on campus, and you are encouraged to visit with your child's foreign language, music, and P.E. teachers, too!
What (else): Mid-year Progress Reports will be handed out by the teachers at the end of your tour. I am happy to answer any quick questions that you may have, as well. If you'd like a more formal meeting to discuss your child's progress, we can schedule additional time for a later date.

This month's field trip will be on Friday, February 28th. We will be traveling to the Experience Music Project Museum in Seattle. This is an extended-day trip. Students need to arrive on campus by 7:00 am (bus leaves by 7:15) and we will return to campus between 6:00-6:30 pm. Please sign up for the Remind 101 alerts, as that will be how I let you know if our bus is running late (or early).
This is a joint trip with Mr. Littledyke and the 8th grade. Mrs. Adams and I will be meeting on Friday to discuss details for the day, as well as to establish our policy for what can be brought along on the bus (given it is a longer ride). I will let you know next week more precisely what will and won't be allowed.
Thank you for the many volunteers for this trip. At this time we have 5 set to go, with 4 more on the waiting list.
This is sure to be a very exciting trip!
BOB Battles begin on Monday, February 24th! Please continue to encourage or assist your child in reading their books! Please note that two titles have been removed from the list: Between Shades of Grey and Revolutionary War Spies. Students should also be practicing their titles and authors. Titles must be said exactly as they are printed on the official list. The original bookmarks that went home had some mistakes, but the complete list can be found on the BOB blog post, as well as on the pink page handed out in class.

Tomorrow there will be an opportunity for students to hand out their hand made, sweet-free Valentines. This is completely optional, of course. Students who choose to participate should make 1 valentine for every member of the class.
That's all folks! Enjoy (another, albeit less snowy!) long weekend!
Mrs. Gausman
