All Roads Lead to Rome!

The last week has been a whirlwind of Rome wrapping up! Here are some of the highlights:
Friday, Oct. 24th field trip (Roman Legacy Tour)
We started the day with a tour of the Gresham Wastewater Treatment Plant, where we got up-close and personal with our first legacy of the day.
Next, we visited the Gresham Outlook- a local newspaper and one of the few functioning printing presses left in the metro area.

After lunch and recess at Blue Lake Regional Park, we continued our journey to Portland Meadows racetrack. Although there were no races that day, we got to tour "behind the scenes", where the horses are kept and taken care of. While we were touring, Mr. Weaver got everything set up for Gladiator Games!

Tuesday, Oct. 28th:
In Art class, we made our own mosaics. After lunch, we had conversations with classmates about our legacies. Overall, the quality of research and confidence when speaking on these topics was very good. I learned some new things this year, too! Well done!

Wednesday, Oct. 29th
We took our Rome final assessment in class. The tests have been placed into your student portfolios, which are handed out at conferences.

Next Week:
We will continue reviewing bones, singing our song, and preparing to transition to the study of the muscular system.  Our next history unit, on Vikings, will begin in mid-November and continue through the month of December.

Parent-Teacher conferences began this week and will continue through next week. I've enjoyed sitting down with some of you, and look forward to the rest of the conversations ahead!

Mrs. Gausman
