When in Rome...

Parents,
This week we began our Core Knowledge history unit on Ancient Rome. Wednesday, students chose their topics for the Roman Legacy Project. All of the instructions, rubrics, and timelines were on the original packet. I will also send it out as an attachment just in case. Here are the highlights, including mid-project due dates:
Week of Mar.3rd- We will began our in-class example for the IEW Key Word Outline and draft of a 2 paragraph essay.
March 10th- KWO for project due. I will look them over and return them that day with feedback for moving forward.
March 17th- Rough draft due. I will have these returned, with feedback by Tuesday. We will complete the final draft in class this week. Final drafts are due on Thursday, March 20th.
Monday, March 31st MODELS ARE DUE
Oral presentations will begin on Monday, March 31st. I will assign presentation spots the week before spring break so you will know what day and time your child is presenting. We present in the library, and families are welcome to come and watch! If you need a specific day in order to come for your child's presentation, please let me know by March 17th. I will do my best to accommodate schedules.

Also coming up in March~ our Roman Legacy Field Trip! Next Friday, March 14th, we will spend the day touring 3 modern examples of Roman legacies; a waste-treatment facility, a bridge museum, and a newspaper. After the tours we return to school for our very own Gladiator Games and Circus Maximus chariot race! If you would like to volunteer for the day, please contact Mrs. Marks. All gladiator fans are welcome to come watch the games. We will begin about 2:15, out on the playground!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs. Gausman
