Our day at Wildwood

What a wonderful day we've had in nature! This morning, groups divided up to conquer two of the trails around the wetlands. The area was teeming with life. Children used their senses to see, and hear many varieties of birds, salamanders, and fish, as well as feeling and even tasting many, many plant species. We even got to enjoy feeling the sun on our faces from time to time, too! 





On the Cascade Streamwatch Trail, we were able to visit an underwater viewing area to witness life inside a stream! 

We enjoyed lunch and 'recess' at a very fun playground in the park. After lunch, students worked in pairs to go on a Sensory walk. One partner was blindfolded while the other led them safely around a trail to different stations. Each station held an object that required either smell, touch, sound, or taste to experience. Students had an opportunity to use descriptive language to describe the object, then to guess its identity.
